It may be that they are sending you to a doctor that handles autonomic neuropathy (the neuropathy in your stomach) - its usually a GI motility specialist - this type of neuropathy is not handled by neruologists usually - and there are meds to help the stomach issues (called autonomic neruopathy and and when it affects your stomach called gastroparesis) -they may want to do testing in that area - and also maybe testing on possible other autonomic complications like BP, cardiac, etc.... maybe give them a call back and see? Then you'd have an idea what to expect
