new to site
Hi to all,
I am a new member as of today and posting for the first time. I came here to become more educated about generalized diabetic peripheral neuropathy. As with so many others on this site, I have not gotten very far with doctors. This must be an orphant disease as I watch their response to it and their lack of knowledge and/or lack of interest. So I have pretty much decided I must venture out on my own to find assistance from the pain I am having.
Just so you know, I have been afflicted with this problem for eight years now. I have had Type II diabetes for over 15 years now. Have had EMG's, MRI's, Neuro exams with tests for everything from lyme disease to heavy metals. It seems to come back to diabetes each time with prescriptions for everything from Neurontin, Cymbalta, Lyrica, ampitriptlyine, etc. I have taken them all only to have worse pain as a result. Currently I am on no pain relief drugs except an Excedrine one a day. I do take vitamin B complex, vitamin D, and a multivitamin each day along with Byetta 10 units twice a day and metformin 500 mgs three times a day.
My symptoms include burning below the knees and in the feet. Stinging in the arms and hands, ringing in the ears, and tremendous problems sleeping due to increased pain, especially when a weather front comes through, and stinging behind my neck. MRI's show no mylopathy or stenosis in the main cannel but foraminal stenosis throughout the spine, espcially in the lumbar and at S1. The cervical has similar symptoms.
Can anyone led me to a protocol that might help me heal? That would be appreciated. My doctors tell me to learn to live with it or take the pain meds. I do not like either choice and believe there may be another one out there.
Thanks,
Keith
