That's a great happening.
Now, I am not an estate attorney, but is anyone advising you to created revocable (or irrevocable) child's trust so that the money you got will be protected against all creditors? My concern is that you may need for the money somehow, and it's so expensive to carry insurance (do you have the gap insurance if you're on Medicare?) and you may not have some creditor or health agency after your very last dime...but I am guessing setting up something protecting the whole now would be wise, for your whole family. ANd who can you trust more than the kids and perhaps a bank appointed trustee? I will be thinking along those same lines. And don't forget the IRS - how they can "create" more taxation from any earnings...I think it's taxed lower once it's in the girls' control, for the family's best interest.
I'm just tossing that up for you.
We all need to get a free consult from a disability attorney as we may have loads of benefits (wheel chairs, house changes, maybe even home loans) available to us.
Or what agency would tell us our rights as disableds?
Thank God He watched over you Beth!!!!
