here's an easy summer treat that I always enjoy .. usually a specialty at church picnics ... not sure where it originated from. some say from the southside of Milwaukee ... alot of Polish-heritage there ... and I'm half-Polish ...
*8-10 lbs of chicken
:: get hens, more white meat - BOIL until it falls off the bone, pick out the bone, SAVE the juice. CUT UP chicken (throw out skin & bones).
*6 medium potatoes - cut up
*1 stalk of celery - cut up
*2 big onions - cut up
*4 chicken boullion cubes & 8 beef boullion cubes
*small head of cabbage - cut up
*salt to taste
*4-5 lbs of frozen vegetables (Veg-All) OR fresh carrots, corn & beans
keep the big bones for flavor. some people add OX TAIL
ADD WATER to fill the stock pot .. about a 16 Qt ... and cook ... all day long!!
when veggies are done ... and everything is cooked thru ... ENJOY!
the difference is that there are NO noodles! ... then it would be chicken soup .. go figure! LOL
