I'd say do not definately invite them to a party in the far future because for some reason you might find you unfortunately can't give it. But maybe say "I'm thinking of having".
When kicker said she was involved in girlscouts that reminded me that my DH was a boy scout leader in my son's troop from when son was 8 till when he was 18 (cub scout till he made Eagle). I helped sometimes too. Me & son's little sis helped make costumes & marched with the cub scouts in the city Xmas parade. It was my idea to dress as gifts we made out of appliance boxes we wraped then put on bows & stuff. After we did that ppl in the 'audience' started coming to the annual Xmas parade as gifts.
