On peeing....
When Sophie had surgery - 12 hrs, for cancer, spaying and a hernia - the vet called me to update. He was concerned because hours later, no pee.
I came down to see her and said "She's inside. Sophie doesn't pee inside, she's a good girl."
so in a T storm, pouring rain, the vet and I carefully took the lil patient out. He brought a plastic container to catch some urine. He wanted to see if there was any blood in it, to see how the surgery went, if there were any problems in that way.
He explained he had had the crew re-strerilize the OR, and was just about to sedate Soph again and go back in to see if there was a blockage, since she did not pee for so long. But first he just pressed on her bladder, and expressed the urine that way.
And he'd had to call the staff back in on their night off to do all this, mind you.
So we're out in the wind and rain in March... with a pee cup.
Still wouldn't go.
I said "She can't pee. You're watching. Give me the cup."
We both looked away. I told the dog, "Go ahead and pee, we won't look"
And dangit if that dog didn't squat right then.
