They did my colonoscopy WIDE AWAKE
in the mid-80's. About 1/2 way through, they let me have a valium/relaxant. (That was after a few days of bleeding, and when they discovered I had Ulcerative Colitis).
YES, it is painful.
Glad it's over with. Hope you don't need surgery, and the polyp is non-cancerous.
