I can't comment on your annie... but I have a short comment about the pituitary.

Usually doctors leave them alone unless:
1) if it is secreting large amounts of hormones they typically remove it.
(each person secretes different ratios of hormones and there is no general
comment about each type)
Also these are very common, and are found by accident up to 20% on general autopsies. Many people can have them and not even know it.
Use of some drugs like Risperdal has been shown to cause them.

2) if it grows it will start to push on one or both optic nerves, and then you can have vision changes. They will remove a pituitary adenoma at this point also.
