Ssep/emg
Hi Johanna,
I was under the impression that the EMG is the nerve test which specifies Carpal Tunnel or Ulnar nerve compression.
The SSEP meaures the brain signals reaching from the base of the neck to the wrist and does indeed specify TOS. In my case anyway, that is how I was diagnosed with double-crush TOS. Although I did diagnostically, indicate CPS in both wrists, the SSEP proved TOS was the culprit.
My brain signals did not match-up between the base of my brain and the wrist in either the median or ulnar nerve in either arm. This was the test that determined I had severe bi-lateral neurogenic TOS. The difference is that the SSEP measured nerve impulses passing through the Brachial Plexus, showing that area was the genises of my nerve issues. This, anyway, is what was explained to me during the testing.
The Dopplar and ultrasound tests indicated I also had severe bi-lateral arterial TOS, (in that these are tests of the circulation in varying positions of the arm and neck.
