Hey Mary!
I've had a "bionic butt" for years now, and it works out just fine. I couldn't imagine having it anywhere else. The only thing you have to careful of is not losing too much weight because then it can get pokey. And honestly, the recovery time for this procedure is just a couple of weeks. You won't even remember you had the surgery by September! I just had a new one put in in January. Just make sure that they put it far enough away from your hip bone (illiac crest) so that it can't migrate toward it and bump it. Not fun! Extra revision surgeries! Good luck! And by the way, the new batteries these days are like, 1/3 the size of the older ones. Yipee!
