I have been involved in arranging clinical trials and obtaining cost estimates.
The costs have ranged from $500 to $40,000 per patient.
So if you're looking for the average this really doesn't answer your question as the difference is so great.
Clinical trial numbers differ enormously as well. The number of patients required to get a licence for a new medicine range from 25 to 4,500.
