It had occured to me that if the food banks (for people) were doing as poorly as they say on the news, the shelters probably were doing even worse.

Well, a friend of dh's just bought a mule and 2 or 3 horses for $500. The owner just couldn't feed them anymore. So sad...

Didja know you can adopt a horse from petfiner for a few hundred bucks, or even free? Wow, I wish I had the land.
