it was a "special" day, Cyn... far from the usual, which is usually mostly just laying in the hammock, under the fan, and feeding the animals at dawn and dusk.

She was just a sweet wonderful woman and she would keep us supplied with fresh eggs, some still warm and even with feathers.
A city girl like me was just thrilled and amazed.
mmm, real fresh eggs.

yep, we have eggs for breakfast every day... we eat the small ones, the over-large ones, and the off-color ones.
we barter 2 or 3 flats a day, in exchange for veggies... (there's 30 in a flat)
and we *still* have enough left over to hatch a batch (42) a month.
and we get to make roast chicken from all the "extra" roosters, and always have meat in the freezer... if you have the space for it, free-range chicken farming is easy and fun... the chickens mostly take care of themselves, we just had to make STURDY possum-proof coops, and safe nest-boxes, out of scrap lumber.
we also have ducks, geese, pigs, goats, guinea pigs, and rabbits, on 6 acres.
and mmmmmmmmmmmmm, fresh eggs, brown, organic, free-range, tasty, yum!!
