I grew up on musicals too, especially the Rogers and Hammerstein. People used to tell us my dad looked like Gordon McCrae. When I was a kid, my father took my mother to see a play of Oklahoma. She got so wrapped up in the performance, when the actors began to stand and sing, building in volume at the end - she stood up right along with them.
I was really tired one day, and my husband was in bed watching TV. He asked if I wanted him to leave the room, but I told him I'd just pull the covers over my head. He started flipping through the channels, and I heard "say it soft and it's almost like praying..." I flung the covers off my head and sat up. My husband said "Three, two, one - I was wondering how long it would take you to do that."
We watched West Side Story together, then I took a nap.
