CASSIA (Cinnamomum cassia)
Cinnamon CASSIA (Cinnamomum cassia)
Ancient Uses
: Ingredient in Moses' Holy Anointing Oil
Modern Uses:
Immune system builder and supportive of the body's natural defenses.
Application:
Dilute 1 part essential oil with 4 parts vegetable oil;
(1) apply 1-2 drops on location,
(2) diffuse, or
(3) take as dietary supplement or food additive (
Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS).
Caution:
May irritate the nasal membranes if inhaled directly from diffuser or bottle. Avoid
if pregnant, do not use on children under 18 months of age, may possibly result in skin
irritations, dilution may be necessary.
CEDARWOOD (Cedrus atlantica)
Ancient Uses:
Cleansing of lepers, ritual cleansing from evil spirits, cosmetics, skin problems,
various medicines, calming effects. This may be the first and most ancient of the distilled oils. It
was mentioned on a Babylonian tablet dated 1800 BC.
Modern Uses
: Insect repellent, hair loss, arteriosclerosis, ADHD, skin problems (acne, eczema,
psoriasis)
Fragrant Influence:
Stimulates the limbic region of the brain (the center of emotions) stimulates
the pineal gland, which releases melatonin (the body's natural sleep promoter). Terry
Friedmann MD found in clinical tests that therapeutic grade essential oil was able to
successfully treat ADD and ADHD (attention deficit disorders) in children. It is recognized for its
calming, purifying properties, and promoting mental clarity.
Application:
(1) Apply on location (neat),
(2) directly inhale,or
(3) diffuse.
CISTUS (Cistus ladanifer) / Rose of Sharon / Rock Rose
Ancient Uses:
Elevating moods, perfume
Modern Uses
: Antiseptic, immune enhancing, aids in normal cell regeneration, calming to
nerves. Monoterpenes reprogram cellular memory thus promoting permanent healings.
Fragrant Influence:
Calming to the nerves, elevates the emotions.
Application:
(1) Apply 2-4 drops on location (neat),
(2) directly inhale,
(3) diffuse, or
(4) may be used as a food additive.

CYPRESS (Cupressus sempervirens)
Ancient Uses:
Arthritis, laryngitis, reducing scar tissue, cramps. Cypress oil is mentioned in a
Babylonia table dating 1800 B.C.
Modern Uses:
Supportive of the cardiovascular system (increases circulation, strengthens
blood capillaries, controls hemorrhages and nose bleeds, relieves acute chest discomfort),
supportive of women during menstruation and menopause. Monoterpenes reprogram cellular
memory with correct information thus promoting permanent healings at a cellular level. Cypress
also promotes production of leucocytes (white blood cells) which boosts the body's natural
defenses.
Fragrant Influence:
Eases the feeling of loss and creates a sense of security and grounding.
Also helps heal emotional trauma.
Application:
(1) Dilute 1 part essential oil with 1 part vegetable oil;
(2) apply 2-4 drops on location or massaging toward center of body
(3) directly inhale, or
(4) diffuse.
FRANKINCENSE (Boswellia Carteri)
Ancient Uses:
Holy Anointing Oil, a cure-all, used to enhance meditation and elevate spiritual
consciousness, thought to assist one in transition of death, used in perfume. Frankincense was
used to anoint the newborn sons of kings and priests, which may have been why it was brought
to the baby Jesus.
Modern Uses:
Monoterpenes reprogram cellular memory thus promoting permanent healing;
helps maintain normal cellular regeneration; cancer, depression, allergies, headaches,
bronchitis, herpes, tonsillitis, typhoid, warts, brain damage, massive head injuries, stimulates
body's production of white corpuscles (immune builder), expectorant.
Fragrant Influence:
Increases spiritual awareness, promotes meditation, improves attitude and
uplifts spirits.
Application:

GALBANUM (Ferula gummosa)
Ancient Uses:
Holy anointing oil, various medicines, perfume, spiritually uplifting yet
grounding, pain relief, spasms and cramps, diuretic.
Modern Uses:
Abscesses, acne, asthma, chronic coughs, cramps, indigestion, muscular
aches and pains, scar tissue, wrinkles, wounds, emotionally balancing. Monoterpenes
reprogram cellular memory thus promoting permanent healing.
Fragrant Influence
: Harmonic and balancing, amplifies spiritual awareness and meditation.
When combined with frankincense or sandalwood, the frequency rises dramatically.
Application:

HYSSOP (Hyssopus Officinalis)
Ancient Uses:
Spiritually cleansing, help for focusing mind in meditation, purification from sin,
addictions and destructive habits; various medicines, respiratory relief, decongestant,
expectorant, repeller of evil spirits.
Modern Uses:
Monoterpenes reprogram miswritten information in the DNA and thus promote
permanent healing at a cellular level. Hyssop has been used to relieve anxiety, arthritis,
asthma, respiratory infections, parasites, increases perspiration, detoxifying and emotionally
balancing.
Fragrant Influence:
Stimulates creativity and meditation.
Application:
(1) dilute 1 part essential oil with 4 parts vegetable oil before applying on location,
(2) directly inhale, or
(3) diffuse.
Cautions:
Avoid use if epileptic, have high blood pressure or are pregnant.
MYRRH (Commiphora myrrha)
Ancient Uses:
Pregnant mothers anointed themselves for protection against infectious
diseases and to elevate feelings of well-being. Used during labor to massage on perineum to
facilitate stretching. Used after childbirth to prevent or remove abdominal stretch marks.
Customarily used on umbilical cords of newborn to protect navel from infection. It may have
been for all of these uses that Myrrh was brought to Mary and baby Jesus. Also used in ancient
times for skin conditions, oral hygiene, embalming, and as an insect repellent.
Modern Uses:
Supports immune system, balancing to thyroid and endocrine system,
antiseptic, bronchitis, diarrhea, thrush in babies, vaginal thrush, athlete foot, ringworm, viral
hepatitis, chapped skin, wrinkles. Sesquiterpenes deprogram miswritten information on the
DNA at a cellular level (thus promoting permanent healings) and also stimulate the limbic
system of the brain (the center of memory and emotions).
Fragrant Influence:
Promotes spiritual awareness and is uplifting. Is also emotionally releasing.
As in ancient times, myrrh is still used as a fixative to extend the fragrances of other scents.

MYRTLE (Myrtus communis)
Ancient Uses:
Religious ceremony, purification from ritual uncleanliness.
Modern Uses
: Thyroid and general hormone balancer, soothing to respiratory system,
decongestant, sinus infections, tuberculosis, colds, flu, coughs, bronchitis, asthma, skin
conditions (acne, psoriasis, blemishes, bruises)
Fragrant Influence:
Elevating and euphoric.
Application:
(1) dilute 1 part essential oil with 1 part vegetable oil before applying on location,
(2) directly inhale, or
(3) diffuse.
ONYCHA (Styrax benzoin)
Ancient Uses:
Perfume, blended in the holy anointing oils, comforting, soothing, uplifting, an
ointment to heal skin wounds. Used as a fixative.
Modern Uses:
Stimulates renal output, used for colic, flatulence, constipation, and may help
control blood sugar levels. Inhaled for sinusitis, bronchitis, colds, coughs, and sore throats.
Soothing, used for dermatitis and skin wounds. Relieves stress when used in massage.
SANDALWOOD (Santalum album) / Aloes
Ancient Uses:
Assistance in mediation; aphrodisiac; embalming.
Modern Uses:
Sandalwood contains one of the highest concentration of sesquiterpenes of all
oils. Sesquiterpenes deprogram misinformation and carry oxygen at a cellular level. A powerful
immune stimulant and antitumoral agent, enhances deep sleep (stimulating release of
melatonin); used for skin care, supportive of female reproductive and endocrine systems; has
been applied for urinary tract infections.
Fragrant Influence:
Enhances deep sleep. It is high in sesquiterpenes that stimulate the pineal
gland and the limbic region of the brain (the center of emotions).
Application:
(1) apply 2-4 drops on location (neat),
(2) directly inhale,
(3) diffuse, or
(4) take as dietary supplement (may also be used as a food additive or flavoring).
SPIKENARD (Nardostachys jatamansi)
Ancient Uses:
Perfumes, medicines, skin tonic, incense, mood enhancer. One of the last oils
to be received by Jesus before being arrested and going to the cross, perhaps to help prepare
him for his ordeal.
Modern Uses:
Allergies, migraine, nausea, cardiovascular support, tachycardia, helps nourish
and regenerate the skin, relaxing, soothing, and emotionally calming.
Fragrant Influence:
Relaxing, soothing, and mood elevating.
Application:
(1) Apply 2-4 drops on location (neat),
(2) directly inhale, or
(3) diffuse.

Exodus 30:23,24,25
—Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and
of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two
hundred and fifty shekels, And of
cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and
of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art
of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
Psalm 45:8
—All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby
they have made thee glad.
CEDARWOOD
Leviticus 14:4
—"Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and
clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop."
Leviticus 14:6
—"As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the
hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird [that was] killed over the running
water."

FRANKINCENSE
There are over 52 references to frankincense (considering that "incense is translated from the
Hebrew/Greek "frankincense" and is referring to the same oil).
Exodus 30:34
—"And the Lord said unto Moses, Takeunto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and
galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight:"
Leviticus 2: l
—"And when any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour;

Sweet Cinnamon ("two hundred and fifty shekels" - approximately 1/2 gallon)
Sweet Calamus ("two hundred and fifty shekels")
Cassia ("five hundred shekels")
