I'm more of a home remodeler - but I have redone our home many times, walls paint, everything.

I can see how all that white would get boring after awhile..
But yes, I would stick with soft muted natural type tones.

I did a quick search and found this info on the behr website about colors, meaning, responses, warm tones vs cool tones, etc.

always go with a lighter tone in general because darker will tend to close the room in.
or if you want a bold just do one wall to start and see how you like it.
