They tell me I'm Bipolar, but I haven't seen any scientific data to prove it, only my behavior.

It sounds to me like your shrink is trying to disassociate you from your experiences.

I don't know how he thinks it will be successful, considering that he thinks he can show you proof of the "discomfort" you are associating with it.

If he can relate to you, with some kind of map, what you have a problem with I can only imagine that it would confirm your discomfort more than it would console it.

He does a brain mapping and then we discuss what he saw. Over the next 10-20 and possibly 30 sessions, he will teach me (or rather my mind) how to react/not react when I think of something depressing or when stress is too overwhelming in life, when I have one of my psychogenic NES and any chronic pain. Seems like he can help with a lot. So I question, "Why haven't I heard of this before and why is someone just now suggesting this after many years of medical problems"?

If any one has tried this, please let me know how it worked for you. Or if anyone knows anyone who has tried this or knows anything about it, I would love to hear from you. Basically, I guess I am saying, all ideas, thoughts, concerns and any other help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

M
