PJames, I am so sorry about your fall, and unfortunately, I can say I know how you feel.
I had a bad fall 2 years ago and I broke much more than a finger, and eventually had to have a spinal fusion.
You are very lucky to be alive and feeling from the neck down. Make sure they check your vertebrae for fractures, too, especially your neck.
When you have a bad fall and hit your head you get brain trauma injuries. The action of your brain hitting inside your skull will cause lesions. They can be on the side you hit first and then opposite that side.
Also you can get spinal cord contusions depending on how you fell. These will also show up as lesions, but they are not MS lesions.
I believe an MTR is what they use to differentiate between brain trauma lesions and MS lesions. They are not different on the MRI.
Do you have spasming muscle movements since the accident? If so that would be incomplete spinal cord damage. I have that.
I reversed the curve of my neck in my accident. Has anyone looked at the curve of your neck?
I know this is so much to absorb and you may be on pain killers as well as muscle relaxers, so I won't add anymore. Take it easy and let your body heal. Again I am sooo sorry about this accident.
