Years ago, my daughter had 2 EEGs which showed similar results. The summary says "moderately abnormal EMG for a child of this age because of right frontotemporal and bilateral bursting slow waves. The findings are non-specific, but might be seen interictally." Follow-up with neuros say it doesn't mean anything and that if she were to have a seizure, "you'd know it." She has problems which we're still searching for answers to.

Fast forward 5-7 years, my husband has a grand mal seizure -- adult onset and they have no idea why, but he's on a pretty high dose of Depakote to keep seizures under control.

Four more years later, our younger daughter is being worked up for possible metabolic/mitochondrial disorders. Has no sign of seizures, but in researching one, MSUD, that she's being looked at for, it says that a an "interictal EEG with runs of 5 to 7 Hz monophasic, central, or parasagittal negative activity during awake or sleep" is common with MSUD, calling it a "Unique EEG pattern (comb-like rhythm)."

So, I go back to my oldest's old EEGs and wonder if her results match this. But, I have no idea what they mean by "comb-like rhythm." What would a "comb-like rhythm" on an EEG report look like?
