On a personal note - When my husband had cancer we relied heavily on humor to get us through the tough spots. Sometimes the chemo nurses and the hospital staff thought we were a bit crazy because we would laugh together so much and make jokes about so many things - but laughter was the best medicine for us and it helped us to keep things in perspecitive.
Of course, since he had testicular cancer a lot of our humor was R-rated jokes about his missing body parts... but we were laughing together and taking a break from the serious stuff when we needed to.
