Hey all, we almost didn't survive those storms last night!

There was a tornado warning for northern Dekalb and we are on the tip of southern Dekalb. The winds were so strong that at one point Jim and I were kind of freaked together. I even layed myself on top of him in the bed for fear the windows were going to blow!

We were holding on to each other with him shielding me and me him. I teased Jim that it didn't even occur to me until later that I was willing to risk my life for him! That's true love, I didn't even flinch covering him.

It started out as a teasing thing until that wind got out of hand!
We looked outside at one point and the big huge tree in the neighbors yard next door was bent over and tapping my shed in the backyard. We knew then we needed to move fast. I grabbed Jim and got him up in his chair and we're prepared to get in the bathroom since the basement would have taken too long. Not to mention there is a huge three pane window going down those stairs!
Things started to calm down and then the power went out. It was out until 1am and we are so thankful it wasn't longer. We fell asleep with the doors open which is kind of weird for us since we're from the city. lol There was talk of a hotel by morning. Our patio furniture was visiting the neighbors and my swing on the back porch decided it wanted to be on the other side.
I hope everyone in this area is OK and safe. Wiz lives near me so I am hoping she came out of it Ok. Not sure if DM got hit with it but it came from her side. Hope they check in soon. Deb is from the east and I know they were getting slammed and Elmhurst had a tornado warning. So many to think of. Last night we heard on our transistor radio that over 300,000+ were out of power and it could be days before it's all back on.
