Vonnie, dahlink, your place is looking VONDERFUL !!
you've clearly been working your ***** off to whip it into shape, I'm simply amazed at the progress you've made...
oh, and the view is stunning... I'm totally jealous, girlfriend... my house is in a mango orchard, so there's no views, except various shades of green.
but the trees are nice, because they shade the place all day.
Frank, we have a leetle beet of everything here, so as not to be dependent, if supplies are interrupted.
so, we have a gas generator, a butane fridge, an electric fridge and chest freezer, solar water heater, butane water heater, solar panels on the roof, kerosene lamps, etc.
so, if power's off for an extended period (like during a hurricane) we just shuffle stuff into the butane fridge and freezer.
and we keep tanks of butane and jerry cans of gas, diesel, and kerosene on hand, plus lotsa candles.
if power's REALLY off for a while, well. we'll have a bar-b-que, I guess !!
our house is designed to be livable, cool and comfy, using no power, even in the tropics... it's built on a slight rise, to catch the breezes, and angled to catch the LEAST sun possible, with really WIDE overhanging roof to shade the windows and wrap-around porch, very high ceiling, and venting cupolas to let the hot air escape out the roof.
which is good, because I'm often fulla hot air, lol !!
