Cherie,

I went through this several months ago. I ended up having my heart checked out as well as the total upper GI with ultrasound and scope. I hope they'll get to the bottom of this soon for you. Hopefully it isn't your heart, but as others have noted, please go to the ER if it gets to be more uncomfortable just in case.

For me, it turned out to be GERD and I'm taking Nexium 40 mg daily to control it along with dietary changes. Maybe it will be the same for you. My MS neuro said that GERD is very common in people age 45+.

I don't know if you're that old yet... I turned 50 this year, and I've had this problem for the last couple of years. My Mom had it too so I'm guessing it can be genetic?
