Rather than LEARNING compassion, I would be more apt to say that they should try not to build up a thick outer crust over their compassion. In reality, docs do that as a defense. It is hard to deal with patients that hurt all of the time.

Another thing...I realize that they cannot be expected to spend a lot of time with listening. But, if they would just take the time to ask one question...
"Think...what are your worst pains currently?"...and then just LISTEN. Sometimes I feel as if I am on a conveyor belt.

This is a good question. Glad you have the opportunity.
