Saw my gynecologist today for yearly checkup after having skipped doing a colposcopy or follow-up Pap since my abnormal Pap a year ago. She didn't say a word about it until she was all done, when she said "hopefully your Pap will cooperate this year!" and that sometimes the cells just get funny-looking because they're old, and she would call me if anything was abnormal.

(I get funny-looking because I'm old, too. )

Thus, the whole thing just doesn't seem to be a big deal. In contrast to the nurse calling me up last year and saying gravely "Your Pap smear came back abnormal. You need a colposcopy."
