Do you have a comp atty on your side?
If so you should ask if they recommend using that option.

Many do have someone go along , esp if you have restrictions and may need help or a driver.
Also that person can witness the amount of time Dr spends with you.
Sometimes the Dr says a lot in the report but only spend 10 minutes with you.

depending on your injury /impairment -
they may try to trick you into doing something that your not supposed to do.
they may ask you certain questions or try to get you to say the wrong thing or say too much
or ask how you like your work, to get you to complain about your boss, or employer..

If the exam causes you more or new pain make appt with your dr to follow up right away so it is documented.
some suggest having appt already made for a follow up check for that very reason.

Remember the QME/IME is not your friend or your treating dr.
I will say there are a few that are honest and do the right thing, but many will slant the exam against the worker & for the wc and employer.

ask for a copy of the report to be sent to you- so you know what the dr says in it.
