Obviously not. I think they're bent on doing the most damage--or seeing it just for the sake of fire.

My H and I used to be resident managers of a 28 unit apartment building. Someone set a fire in the storage closet on the 5th floor (where we lived). My daughter was 6 mos old at the time. Luckily, I had a friend over. Got the friend to take her out of the building and I called the fire dept. Got everyone out of the building, including a girl down the hall from me whose baby was about my DD's age.

She was right next to the fire (her apt.). By the time I could get her and the baby out of the apt., the entire hallway was filled with smoke. Had to wet dishtowels down and hold them over her nose and the baby's too.

Makes me shudder thinking about it.

I don't see the thrill or purpose in setting a fire in a building that's occupied or next to one that is.
