I'm sure you do remember the details. That must have been awfully scary.
How did that turn out?
Why is it that I can remember the awful, scary stuff vividly and the good stuff, well, that just seems to fade from memory?
When I asked the psych doc about that, he told me that he wasn't surprised that I didn't remember a lot of my childhood, etc. considering I grew up in an alcoholic family. It was good to have some confirmation that I was somewhat 'normal' with my memories. I'd always felt like a weirdo for not being able to remember stuff like that.
