Welcome back!
Yes.... where we live, on the private island, there is no electricity and very little cell phone coverage. (the cell phone is new--with a new tower about a mile away). Even with that I have to sit on the porch or shore, or point my antenna out a window to get the tower! We used to be out of phone range as well. I had a bag phone that cost $20 a call for emergencies!(naturally we don't need it now)

So I have to use the laundromat for my charging of the computer. When I take my digital pics, I put them in this laptop that belongs to my husband, basically. Then I have to charge up at the laundromat which has plugs for irons.
I charge my cell phone off those car 12 volt portable chargers. They have a 12v plug to run small appliances for campers.
We have two of them, that we charge at the marina and each gives about 5 cell phone charges. But those will not charge the computer..not enough "juice".

The laundromat is next door to a tourist center that offers
free wifi. There is wifi at the library too, but they are not open for very long hours and having to travel 15 miles into town, with crossing the water..weather is an issue. Besides the library is not compatible with Firefox..only Internet explorer.

We laugh now...all the electronic gadgets (MP3, cell phone, digital camera, and laptop, rechargeable batteries for the camera) require more packing and care than anything else we take (except for the 3 cats!) I had to find a good camera that took outside batteries..those rechargeable cameras wouldn't work for us, because of the power issue. We do have a small generator, but we don't use it much..it can be a pain, and the exhaust is bothersome.
I found a nice backpack type bag to hold it all, but still put that in a Rubbermaid tote that is waterproof in order to take the stuff back and forth. One moisture slip and there goes everything ---poof! One little improvement are the new reading lights that have the LED type bulb. I have one from Border's that takes 3 rechargable AAA's and it lasts me almost all summer.

Because I don't often post "personal social stuff" many people don't know how complex my summers can be. So this is just a reminder. (my old friends from years' past do know by now, how basic our life is, )

I have a wonderful portrait of our outhouse, for example, on the Cinnamon thread on Vitamins!
