My brother and SIL live in Victoria, which is 40 miles inland. They are hunkered down for the duration of Ike.

SIL says that all the news studios have reserved all the available rooms in town, and then their people fan out along the coast.

My brother said now that they are ready, it's like sitting on the railroad tracks, waiting for the train to come.
