What I'm curious about is, how does oral lichen planus present? Is it a constant discomfort? Mine is non existent during sleep, and only starts to get worse in the evening/late night when I'm still awake.

I've checked my own mouth, and while I had some white lines, but they seem to coincide with my bite (and I tend to bite the inside of my cheek accidentally!).

Is there a way to say one is OLP, or one is burning mouth syndrome?
I also had burning mouth and had several doctors look at me.
My problem turned out to be certain foods. The main problem for me was Zone Bars and nuts. As soon as I stopped these foods, the symptoms were gone. I hope this helps.
Take care
