Hi, I am sorry your son is having IBD problems.

I was very sick with undiagnosed Celiac Disease for years. After getting diagnosed in 2005, My best friend learned to cook Gluten Free for me since she loves to cook.

Two years ago her son was diagnosed with Crohns. He was not checked for Celiac and they gave him drugs. He was 20 years old. At first he just took drugs and felt miserable.

He asked his gastro if food could be the problem and he laughed in his face and said drugs were the only way to control Crohns.

He went on the internet and researched for himself and found the SCD diet.
http://www.scdiet.com by Elaine Gottschall. The SCD diet is much more involved said my best friend but it works.

He is now not only gluten free but also had to eliminate a variety of other foods. After following this diet he was able to eliminate all drugs. If he cheats, he gets sick so he knows he is on the right path. There is some recent info out that is connecting the IBD to gluten problems too but I will have to search. Most old Gastros are not very up-to-date with the relationship of foods and IBD.

I hope this helps a little.
