Hey Amber,
Welcome to my world! I've had vertigo for 10 days straight, 24/7. Just woke up with it one morning. It's absolutely horrible. Ada, I saw a doctor a few days ago who tried that manipulation - didn't work, they don't know why, could be many things apparently, but the likeliest is what you mentioned - when it's constant. So I just got more motion sickness pills - they help the nausea, do nothing for the vertigo.
With me it's not exactly dizziness, it's that the world spins round, all day and all night, just like after you've spun yourself round like a top.
They think it may be the newish specs I have, they're multifocals and quite new; I said at the start I couldn't handle them, seems I may be right. I only wear them for the computer, but I'm working solidly at present. So today I'm specless, and got a headache instead.
I can't stand it! Here's what I've found. I can steady myself a bit for a few moments if I look up, like at the edge of the ceiling, and focus my eyes hard on something. Also, squeezing my skull at the temples - in fact wrapping a scarf tightly round my head - helps. But it varies, some day it's light, others it's worse and accompanied by nausea to the point of vomiting. I'm sick and tired of it.
Promise to let you know if I find a solution - if I ever return to the land of the stable - the doc said it can go on for weeks!! I know *exactly* what you mean, it's identical to the unsteadiness you get when you're drunk...but without the fun.
So HELP too! I've tried the exercises, sitting on the bed and swinging your torso from one side to the other; helps for all of 5 minutes. Don't know what the answer is - pleeease let me know if anything works for you!
all the best
