I'm appalled that you'd get a 'lecture' about saving the cords, geesh! Unless he's planning to foot the bill, he had no right to give you a lecture! I'd be downright mad myself!
Had my last baby in 07, was asked the cord question the same way they ask all kinds of other questions. No lectures, no need to tell about the benefits...
