this past Sun, the 13th was actually August 15th in the Lunar Calendar.

This is when my culture from over seas would celebrate the "Mid Autumn Festival"

I would compare it to Thanksgiving...it's a major holiday.

It is timed so that the moon would be full and actually appear to be the closest to the earth.

There would be many celebrations but it was also one of the few times that families will try to gather together because the fullness of the moon signifies togetherness...

it made me thought of my maternal grandmother...

she was an amazing woman...

she was highly educated for her time. The missionaries that came to her village stayed with her family because her family was the most well known.

Her father was a doctor. Her two brothers became doctors and actually came to the states through missionary help and got educated in the states.

She, herself spoke 3 languages fluently...

the last time I saw her was when I was 10 yo. And recently, I've been trying to write down memoires about my family. I feel like my memory has been slipping and just wanted to jot it down for my youngest brother.

the last time he saw her was when he was barely one year old. And I wanted to help him know some of our wonderful family members.

I didn't know that in writing them, it has been helping me tremendously...

I am healing through writing these little things out...and my problem is that I can't seem to do it justice. She was so much more than I could've described...

but that's the best I could do for now...

I do have to admit that the parts where she told me to travel was probably at another time when we were somewhere else, but I didn't wanted to go around in circles and talk about how she helped me brush my teeth and wiped my butt either. LOL So, I kinda just added that part to this memory....

I hope I did her justice...
