Oh do I understand that reasoning and it really DOES help. It's not like "denial" where you don't face something, but it's keeping things at bay until you can grasp and understand them fully if they come to be reality.
When my family doc said he wanted to do a brain MRI on me and that I shouldn't panic, I said "so you're thinking MS? and why would I panic? It is what it is." And it was what it was. At that point, I couldn't change it. But it just FEELS better to know for sure what it is even if you can't change it.
