Do you have your health benefits covered by this job? Do you have short/long term disability coverage and life insurance? I wouldn't quit a job that offered me that because you are not likely to get those benefits anywhere else.

If you step down to a lower level or part time, and you have STD and LTD available to you at this job, then you will only make a % of your current salary if you have to leave the workforce. I guess I made that mistake because I stepped down from very high paying Sr Mgmt job to reduce the stress, and when I eventually went off on LTD (which pays me till 65 yrs old), my income was very small compared to if I had gone off when I was a manager.

Did you say you are the manager? If so, could you change your own job description so that you are serving customers or doing something much less dangerous, and give the cooking job to someone else on staff?
