Oh yeah, I hear ya GG. Those spasms are real killers. It's why I went on Baclofen at first and then stayed on it for almost 3 years solid. I weaned myself off it (with the permission of my doc) but kept some around for when I need it, which isn't all that often but boy does it help when I do.
Heat does help. But MBSews was right--meds are there to help you and there's no shame in using them to get through something. So do use them if you need them.
You might want to look into those awesome thermal pads that you can attach to your body. I don't know if you can use them on your feet, but I wouldn't see why you couldn't do that. They helped me a lot for my back when I had to go to work and sit with my back in spasm. Even though I was using the Soma at the time, they helped to keep the muscles warm. I used them when I was on the plane too for 8 hours and that really helped things too.
Do what you need to. I sat there massaging my feet so many nights it wasn't funny!
Epsom salt in a bath works wonders for sore muscles.
