Do you own a Netty Pot? If you do then use it. If you don't go get one. It cleanses the inside of your nose and I think it gets some of your sinuses too. Since I have been using that at the first sign of anykind of nasal problem it just vanishes. And I use to get what you are describing ALL the time. Drink a lot of water, at least an extra quart a day and I take Benedryl at night and Sudafed during the day if I feel my ears acting up. I find to a regular nasal spray like Dristan works. Spray then hold your nose and blow easy, and I mean Slow and EASY, like you are blowing it. Go slow and easy and you will feel the eustacian tubes opening up. I went to an ENT guy once and he showed me this little trick. It allows the excess fluid to drain out of your ears. It usually works for me but sometimes it's stubborn and I have to try again in a while but usually I am successful. When I get what you described I also get dizzy. I HATE being dizzy.

Good Luck.
