We've not had hamsters but have populated most of the East Coast with gerbils - did love them - they're clean - don't smell - don't need their cages changed all the time - can make a nest out of a paper towel cylinder in 10 minutes flat - don't bite - but don't ever trust anyone who says they can tell the sexes apart - amazing how fast they can reproduce !!!!!!
