Lightbulb some suggestions...

Lois, when you take pictures straight out of a digital camera, it might be
very large in size (pixels) depending on the resolution you set with the
camera to start. Newer models have choices, others not.

So with a huge size picture, there are size limits for posting on most forums like this.

I found this suggestion at another forum and tried it out and it is easy
and works well:
www.myimager.com

When you finish your resizing or other adjustments you right click on the finished product and save it back to your computer.
This site will make avatars for you and profile pictures for here.
Avatar size is 80px max any one side
Profile is 100px max. The resize feature is in the second tab at the top:
file. If you click manage attachments here below the posting typing box, it will tell you the maximum file sizes you can use. So you need to have your pic within those sizes and in those format types. Most pics are posted well as a .jpg or .gif

The larger picture is a baby hummingbird that sat on my clothesline this summer resting. He was attracted by a red clothespin that is out of the shot.
It is almost at the size maximum allowed here.
The smaller picture I made profile size at www.myimager.com as an
experiment. I just typed in 100px in the long width box and keep the
format button, and bingo there it is..easy!
