My friend's late Dad was hoping to live to see the Cubs win again. He died in February at 102.
His neighbor had been a Sox fan. When the Sox won the world series, he put a banner in his yard, facing my friend's dad's yard saying SOX WIN THE WORLD SERIES.
They had been pals anyway, enjoying their competing teams together. The neighbor died one day; my friend's dad died a day later. I wonder if their rivalry helped to keep them going somehow, they were both widowers.
I bet they're both watching with front row seats from heaven to see how this turns out.
