Also- do not underestimate the effects of anestesia. Major surgery and the anestesia that comes with it can cloud your mind for a long time. I had a friend who had a major surgery (for a totally unrelated condition) but it took 6 months for the anestesia to wear off. He told me the only things that finally brought him out of the fog was when he started running again.

Even the short acting (like 20-30 minutes) anestesia I had for my botox injections left me cloudy for a few weeks...


My OB gave me the name of a very good rheumatologist in the south bay...If I can find the name I will PM it to you. I was going to get a workup before doing something like surgery, but haven't ever done it.
