You would need to check with your neurologist whether taking something to reduce the spasm would affect your tests. I would think that they would, because by reducing the spasm that would reduce the recording of the over activity in that muscle.
I have developed spasticity in my lower legs which have given me two club feet (equinovarus to be more correct) - when they do the needle emg it shows overactivity in my muscles. I think drugs like baclofen which reduce the spasm would change the tests and either not show up the spasm, or to a reduced degree.
Definitely ask your neurologist about this - you may have to stop taking any meds for spasm around the time of your test.
