Default Michael's Appt.

The doctor was very nice. She did her fellowship under Dr. Wheless the Epileptologist he saw in Houston. She really was very personable and caring. She took the time to listen which really made me feel good.

They will restart him on Depakote and probably remain for two years. She does not think he has the olfactory type seizures. She did think he is probably having more seizures than we realize or notice. His EEG was almost identical to one in 1998 that she was able to get from the docs in Houston. Oh, she did say that he did not have a seizure during the EEG, but that it did show "generalized epileptic activity". Another thing that she said was that on the basis of the EEG's of his in his records, she would never have taken him off Depakote two years ago.

Sadly she also thinks from her observation that he has a mild form of Aspergers. Not something I wanted to hear, but unlike my sister I will seek every treatment I can if so diagnosed. I'm to schedule neuro-psych testing for him.

What amazed me the most is when she came back to give us the prescription, she asked about my seizures and head injury. Honestly she asked more probing questions than any of the docs I have ever seen and remember, this was Michael's appointment.

Of course I can't sleep a wink and feel guilty for ever taking him off meds. He's my cuddle buddy again tonight. Well not exactly cuddling since there are two kitties between us.
