Sounds as if he has some sort of a 'theory' that he's trying to prove,
using patients as Guinea pigs. Wants to publish a paper.....
"Cure for PN .... Steroid Injections"
It would make as much sense to inject Botox, like they do (experimentally) for spinal cord injury patient's,
uncontrollable spasms.
Maybe you should start hunting for another doc ?

He is actually a pain specialist (and anesthesiologist). And maybe I should say this third injection he wants to try to do it in a different location (the L2 nerve, I think.)
I could totally see him trying to write a paper... he is really impersonable and kind of rude.
The problem with looking for another Dr is that this one is already my second pain specialist (I had to leave the first one because he would never return phone calls, even about increased pain, and did not care/call when I got so desperate I started to take extra meds to deal with my increased pain level and told him I was I doing so) and this one I am at now thinks (because I left the first one) I am a pain clinic hopper looking for prescriptions for painkillers or something so if I try to go for a 3rd Dr, I'm afraid it will look really bad...plus I (think) have kind of run out of pain clinic options in my immediate area.
