one of the major problems with unruptured aneurysms is that they tend not to have any symptoms, so people don't know they are there and don't seek treatment. I have no symptoms from my aneurysm and it was found accidently (I have other unrelated neurological problems so have regular brain scans).
By the time that it becomes symptomatic I would have thought that it would be time to have it treated. My sister never did have any symptoms right up until the morning it ruptured. She has a stroke like event 30 minutes before the rupture which she did not survive.
My aneurysm is small (6cm) and is being monitored and has not grown any since it was discovered some time ago.
