Hi dmplaura,
Here is an article about HPV. Unfortunately, the virus can recur. The studies indicate that it depends on the health of the persons immune system.

HPV is a fairly common infection and should not be associated with any stigmatism whatsoever. People of all walks of life get it and some don't even know they have it! But it is important to know the facts about the virus to help avoid a recurrence.

As for the abnormal paps, leading to colpolscopy, leading to LEEP... this was due to HPV. I had not had a PAP in several years. Bad me. But biopsy thankfully showed no cervical cancer, but definitely the precancerous cells.
Hopefully this procedure got all the bad stuff out, and HPV stays dormant and doesn't reoccur.
