Hi Jane,

Cats have different personalities just like people. I have four cats and one dog and I swear they work together in their mischief when I am gone. I too have one cat that is especially gifted in door opening. He can even open the sliding glass door to my patio. He doesn' step out the door however will let all of the other pets out. He sits innocently by the door while everyone else is on the loose.

I did have the male cats neutered and that has helped some as for the destructive nature when I am gone.
