I'm so sorry to hear about your precious dalmation VL. Our pets hold a special place in our hearts with their unconditional love, and the rescued little ones seem even more grateful. My "ex" had a dalmation when we first started dating many moons ago. Her name was Cindy and she was the sweetest girl. She had the funniest habit when riding in the car. He had a small staton wagon and she would stand on the back seat and rest her chin on top of his head. Kind of looked like a Halloween costume with a dalmation on his head!

Last October 22, 2007, I had to have my 15-1/2 year old Bichon Frise put to sleep due to mostly old age. Her little body just wore out. That is the most horrible thing to have to go through, but somebody told me the following that really helped. You took your best friend's pain upon yourself so she/he wouldn't have to suffer anymore. I truly believe we'll be reunited one day. I have her ashes tucked away, it still hurts too much to look at it with her name, Susan, written on a plaque on the wooden box,but I've told my adult kids when my time comes, I'd like her ashes to be put in with me. I know that's not really her, but then it won't really be me either.

Leslie, I'm so sorry to hear about your Boxer too. My heart goes out to you at this horrible time. Time does ease the pain somewhat, but we never forget.

As someone suggested, the Rainbow Bridge website has been a big help and In Memory of Pets is another. Somehow talking with others who are or have been in the same place you are now, helps.

Hugs to both of you and your families.
